Additional information

The WinkBed is the brand’s standard model. It’s available in four firmness options: softer, luxury-firm, firmer, and plus-firm. The hybrid mattress’s Hybrid mattresses combine the features of both innerspring and foam mattresses, with springs surrounded by a thick comfort layer of foam or latex. Tencel pillow top cover infused with gel memory foam Memory foam with small gel pods designed for cooling. is designed to help keep sleepers cool. Tencel is a soft, breathable material that absorbs moisture.

Our expert take

We tested the WinkBed luxury-firm and WinkBed plus mattresses to compare the two different firmness options. Our Reviews Team was impressed with how both performed.

WinkBed luxury-firm

Our testers gave the luxury-firm mattress a medium firmness rating (6.5/10). When lying on their back, testers felt gently cradled by the mattress. They sunk into the surface slightly, but the mattress never sagged due to the supportive innerspring coils. Testers felt comfortable and supported in most sleeping positions.

From our tester

“I feel like I’m lying more on top than in the luxury-firm mattress. When I first switch to a new position, there’s a little give, likely from the plush mattress top. The mattress doesn’t feel like it’s enveloping me once I’m in position.”

Our older-adult tester, Alfreda, said it was easy to switch positions with the support of the mattress’s responsive bounce. She never felt “stuck” or had to fight the quilted cover to move around. When lying on her back and side, Alfreda’s weight was evenly distributed on the mattress, and there were barely any signs of pressure buildup on our pressure map.

The pressure map shows all blue with a hint of green, signifying exceptional pressure relief. The more green you see, the more pressure the tester is experiencing.

We recommend the WinkBed mattress for sleepers with back pain.

Our tester, Alfreda, had excellent pressure map results on the WinkBed luxury-firm mattress.

The WinkBed luxury-firm may not be supportive enough for higher-weight (more than 250 pounds) sleepers. Sleepers looking for a very firm, durable mattress can choose the WinkBed plus.

WinkBed plus

The plus mattress is designed for sleepers weighing more than 300 pounds. It offers firm support for sleepers who may sink too deeply into the WinkBed soft, luxury-firm, or firmer mattresses. Our Reviews Team gave the WinkBed plus an 8/10 firmness rating.

While the mattress is firm, the surface didn’t feel hard or uncomfortable for testers. When our higher-weight tester lay on their back and side, their weight was evenly distributed in both positions. The pressure map showed no buildup in their back, shoulder, or hip areas.

When that same tester switched to lying on their stomach, the pressure map had a lot of red in the midsection area. Red indicates excessive pressure, which can be uncomfortable for sleepers since this area isn’t properly supported by the mattress.

While the WinkBed plus is great for some stomach sleepers, it may be uncomfortably firm for those with a larger midsection. Higher-weight stomach sleepers may want a firm mattress with a little more sinkage, such as the WinkBed firmer.

Edge support and motion isolation: Both mattresses have a strong, supportive edge and excellent motion isolation. We were especially impressed that a firm, responsive mattress like the WinkBed plus absorbs movement well.

Our recommendation

Who may love it

  • Partners with different sleep preferences looking for a middle-ground with decent motion isolation
  • People who need a responsive bed with good edge support for easy mobility
  • Sleepers who change positions throughout the night

Who should probably avoid it

  • Lighter-weight (less than 130 pounds) sleepers should try the softer model

Pros and cons of the WinkBed GravityLux mattress
Pros Available in three firmness options Has cooling materials All-memory foam option Cons White-glove delivery (free delivery and setup of new mattress and free removal of old mattress) not available
Additional information

The WinkBed GravityLux is an all-foam mattress with three firmness options: soft, medium, and firm. The mattress contains AirCell Memory Foam, a material exclusive to WinkBeds that’s designed to be more breathable than traditional memory foam. Like the original model, the GravityLux cover also contains a Tencel cover with gel infused foam for cooling.

What a foam mattress is made of

The mattress foam has zoned support, meaning the firmness changes depending on the location. The foam in the lumbar region is firmer, while the foam near the shoulder area is softer.

Our expert take

Our Reviews Team likes that this memory foam mattress has multiple firmness options. Custom firmness options allow a variety of sleepers to get the benefits of a foam mattress with the best support for their body and sleeping position. The GravityLux comes in soft, medium, and firm. We tested the firm.

The GravityLux firm mattress is quite firm compared to traditional memory foam mattresses. You won’t get the deep sinking Good contouring sinkage can give sleepers the feeling of being “hugged” by their mattress, but too much sink can result in misalignment of the spine, especially for stomach and back sleepers. feeling many associate with memory foam. We recommend the soft or medium GravityLux if you’re a lighter-weight (less than 130 pounds) or average-weight (130–250 pounds) sleeper looking for a softer mattress, especially if you mainly sleep on your side.

Our testers were impressed with how supportive yet comfortable the GravityLux firm felt when lying on their stomachs. If you’re a stomach sleeper, you want your hips to stay upright and aligned with your spine—not sink into the mattress. The firm mattress supported our testers’ hips but also hugged them gently.

From our tester

“I was surprised at how firm the GravityLux mattress is. Unlike other memory foam mattresses I’ve tested, I didn’t slowly sink into the surface. Instead, I immediately felt pressure relief with reinforced support from the firm foam.”

Our testers felt supported by the WinkBed mattress whenever they moved around or changed positions. They never felt stuck or sunken into the mattress, which is a common experience with foam mattresses.

Edge support and motion isolation: The GravityLux has a durable, stable edge. Testers felt secure and supported when lying near or sitting on the mattress edge. The foam mattress also absorbs movement nicely, so you likely won’t be disturbed by your partner’s movement.

  • Stomach sleepers of any weight
  • Higher-weight (more than 250 pounds) back sleepers

Pros and cons of the WinkBed EcoCloud mattress
Pros Made with all-natural materials Contains naturally cooling Talalay latex Zoned coil design Cons Multiple firmness options not available White-glove delivery (free delivery and setup of new mattress and free removal of old mattress) not available
Additional information

The WinkBed EcoCloud is the brand’s eco-friendly mattress. This hybrid mattress contains organic cotton, wool, and Talalay latex—even the innerspring coils are made with recycled steel. On top of these sustainable materials being better for the environment, they have additional benefits. The organic cotton and wool in the mattress cover are naturally breathable, which helps keep the surface cool.

What a hybrid mattress is made of

The Talalay latex layer is next. Talalay is more responsive than traditional memory foam but still contouring. The material’s microscopic holes promote airflow to help keep sleepers cool. According to WinkBeds, Talalay latex is also antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and non-toxic. Learn more about the best cooling mattresses our team has tested.

Our expert take

The EcoCloud doesn’t offer multiple firmness options like other WinkBeds models. After testing the mattress, we rated it as medium-firm (6.5/10), which is the standard middle ground for mattresses. Our testers felt comfortable and supported when lying on their backs, without sinking deeply into the surface.

One tester reported that the mattress felt like a gentle hug but didn’t deeply contour their body. If you’re looking for a more plush and sinking feel from your mattress, the EcoCloud may not be the best option.

The mattress has a zoned support design, with firmer coils in the lower back region and softer coils in the shoulders and hips. Testers felt support from the zoned coils when lying on their backs and sides. The coils had enough give in the shoulders and hips to allow testers to comfortably sink into the mattress when lying on their sides.

We like that sleepers can switch between sleeping on their back or side and still feel supported by the mattress.

From our tester

“I think the EcoCloud is great for sleepers who switch positions throughout the night. The mattress’s bouncy layers support mobility, and sleepers should be comfortable in most positions.”

Edge support and motion isolation: Like other WinkBeds mattresses, this mattress had a strong, stable edge. Unfortunately, the EcoCloud’s bouncy and responsive latex and innerspring layers resulted in too much motion transfer The amount of movement felt on one side of the mattress when a bed partner moves on the other side of the bed. . We liked how the mattress supported our movements, but if you’re a light sleeper who is easily disturbed by your partner’s or pet’s movement, you may want a mattress that better absorbs movement.

Our recommendation

Who may love it

  • Shoppers searching for natural materials in their mattresses
  • People with lower back pain who benefit from extra support in the lumbar area
  • People who need a responsive bed with good edge support for easy mobility

Who should probably avoid it

  • Sleepers looking for a softer mattress
  • Light sleepers who are easily disturbed by their partner’s movements

Bottom line

WinkBeds offers three distinct models of mattress: the WinkBed, GravityLux, and EcoCloud. The WinkBed and EcoCloud are both hybrid mattresses. The EcoCloud contains natural and recycled materials, a plus for environmentally conscious shoppers, but the WinkBed has four firmness options to accommodate a range of body types, positions, and preferences, while the EcoCloud has only one firmness.

The GravityLux is the brand’s memory foam mattress. It contains a layer of the company’s patented AirCell Memory Foam, a specialty foam designed to be cooler than traditional memory foam. The GravityLux is available in three firmness options.

WinkBeds has a 120-night trial with free returns, but only after an initial trial of at least 30 nights before making the return. If you’re unhappy with the firmness level you chose for your WinkBed or Gravity Lux, you can exchange it for another firmness option for a $49 fee.

Frequently asked questions

We recommend the WinkBed luxury-firm or EcoCloud for most side sleepers, but the best mattress for side sleepers depends on the sleeper’s weight and personal preferences. It should be soft in the shoulder and hip areas to evenly distribute weight and relieve pressure. If you’re a side sleeper, see our other picks for the best mattresses for side sleepers and mattresses that are best for shoulder pain.

Generally, sleepers with back pain should sleep on a medium-firm mattress, but the best mattress depends on your weight and personal preferences. The WinkBed luxury-firm is a medium-firm hybrid mattress with supportive innerspring coils and contouring memory foam, and it may be a good option for those with back pain. See our review of the best mattresses for back pain, and always consult your doctor about the right mattress for chronic back pain or other medical conditions.

WinkBeds mattresses are made in the United States, with factories located in Arizona, Connecticut, Texas, and Wisconsin.

A hybrid mattress typically lasts about seven to 10 years, while a memory foam mattress lasts either three to five years (low-density foam) or eight to 10 years (high-density foam). Mattress longevity depends on the quality of the materials, so it may vary. WinkBeds doesn’t specify exactly how long its mattresses last, but it has a 10-year warranty. The brand recommends rotating your mattress 180 degrees every two weeks for the first three months and then every two months to help extend your mattress’s life.
