Key takeaways

Finding the right mattress can be hard to do when there are so many selections. It’s important to consider your sleeping position and personal preferences. But you should also ensure you pick a mattress that is designed to work for your body type. The Titan Plus Luxe mattress, created by Brooklyn Bedding, is designed specifically for higher-weight sleepers who weigh more than 250 pounds, but it offers a more plush experience than the brand’s firmer Titan Plus, making it a good option for adults of all sizes.

Our Reviews Team personally tested this mattress to help you decide if it’s the right one for you.

Our experience with the Titan Plus Luxe

Titan Plus Luxe
9.3 Excellent
During testing, we found this mattress provides the firmness and support a higher-weight adult needs to keep their spine in neutral alignment, plus it offers a high level of pressure relief around sensitive areas, like the hips, shoulders, and lower back, making it a good option for side and back sleepers. We also think the lower-back support and contour make this a good mattress for adults of all body weights.

Our expert recommendations

Who may love it

  • Back sleepers of all weights should notice less sinkage Some sinkage in a mattress helps contour the body and can give the sleeper a feeling of being “hugged” by their mattress—too much sinkage can cause spinal misalignment, especially for back and stomach sleepers and higher-weight adults and strong contouring due to the mattress’s 2-inch TitanFlex Comfort Foam that helps support the spine and lower back.
  • Combination sleepers People who sleep in more than one position throughout the night may like the mattress’s 8-inch, individually encased coils that help sleepers stay elevated during the night, allowing them to switch positions easily.
  • Hot sleepers and couples may appreciate the mattress’s cooling capabilities. During our tests, the Titan Plus Luxe’s overall temperature only increased by 8.5 degrees after use, which is a “good” cooling score.

Who may want to avoid it

  • Sleepers who sleep with a partner or move around at night, as the mattress is more stable in the center of the bed than at the edges.
  • Higher-weight stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer mattress that better supports their hips during the night.
Pros and Cons
Pros Good responsiveness to movements Excellent support for maintaining a neutral spine Good sinkage for better contouring and support Great cooling capabilities, especially if you opt for the GlacioTex™ cooling cover Cons Only average edge support No mattress handles, making it difficult to transport and set up on your own

Our expert take on the Titan Plus Luxe mattress

Brooklyn Bedding created the Titan Plus Luxe mattress so that higher-weight sleepers can experience both pressure relief and support while resting. Its gel-infused foam for thermal regulation, three additional foam layers, and an 8-inch layer of more than 900 individually encased coils help the brand deliver on its promise of contoured support and durability.

Our testers agreed that the most comfortable mattresses offer support, pressure relief, and responsiveness. The Titan Plus Luxe scored highest on our support tests, earning a 4.5 out of five from our testers.

This bed has more of an “on top” feel to it rather than a “sinking” feel, and we believe average-weight sleepers in all positions and most higher-weight sleepers will find the balance comfortable. The plush, contouring feel of the Titan Plus Luxe helps fill in the area around the body, providing pressure relief around the hips and shoulders, making it ideal for higher-weight side sleepers. The responsiveness of the coil construction makes it a strong choice for combination sleepers.

Providing a great balance of motion isolation The ability of a mattress to keep movement on one side of the bed from affecting the other side and bounce, we scored this mattress a four out of five for motion transfer The amount of movement felt on one side of the mattress when a bed partner moves on the other side of the bed because our testers could not feel the other sleeper’s movements while lying on the bed.

The Titan Plus Luxe lacks the amount of edge support we’d prefer for couples and sleepers who spread out on the mattress. While our testers didn’t feel like this bed’s edges would collapse underneath them, they felt much more secure in the center of the mattress than they did on the perimeter. A bed with reinforced edges can help prevent sagging or sinkage near the sides and provide more stability as you move on the mattress.

Brooklyn Bedding does not offer in-home mattress delivery. The Titan Plus Luxe weighs between 80–150 pounds, so we recommend recruiting help to set up and position your mattress. Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night trial period and a 10-year warranty.

Our tester on the Titan Plus Luxe mattress:

“My body sinks into the Titan Plus Luxe a good amount. Lighter-, average-, and higher-weight sleepers should feel a lot of support. It also seems plush enough to be good for joint pain, and my hips are feeling some nice sinkage.”

Customer reviews

The Titan Plus Luxe has a 4.6-star rating out of five, with more than 1,900 reviews on the Titan website. Many higher-weight reviewers noted the mattress’s positive effects on their joint pain.

“This mattress has changed my life. My partner and I had an old mattress that left us with back and shoulder pain. He is about a 300 pound man, and both of our backaches and shoulder pain have improved greatly! Probably the best sleep I’ve ever had!”

— Luisanny P., verified buyer on 07/05/2024

“This mattress is the best I’ve bought in years. I’ve gotten more sleep and been better rested on this mattress than I have in the last 10 years.”

— Chris P., verified buyer on 07/02/2024

“We are about a month in, and this is the best mattress I have ever owned. I am a plus-size gal, my husband weighs roughly 160 pounds, and we have a one-year-old. This bed is amazing for all of us. Just buy it. You won’t regret it.”

Is the Titan Plus Luxe right for you?

If you’re still wondering if the Titan Plus Luxe mattress is right for you, consider your preferred sleep position and body weight.

Pain relief

Our testers approve of how Titan Plus Luxe contours the body to help relieve pressure build-up in sensitive areas, like the lower back, hips, and shoulders. This feature makes it a good mattress for back pain. Our testers’ hips experienced nice sinkage when side sleeping, so we think sleepers with hip pain should find this mattress comfortable. Some of our lighter-weight side testers experienced pressure near the shoulders while sleeping. If you have shoulder pain, we suggest reading our reviews of the best mattresses for shoulder pain.

Couples

Features that benefit couples are cooling technology, motion isolation, and edge support. As mentioned above, the Titan Plus Luxe earned a four out of five for its cooling capabilities and motion isolation. But our testers gave it a three out of five for edge support, which is important to consider if you and your partner tend to gravitate toward the edge of the mattress at night. If you’re worried about having enough space and bounce to move around on your mattress, read our roundup of the best mattresses for couples.

Aging

One of the main highlights of the Titan Plus Luxe is that it’s comfortable enough to relieve pressure for sensitive joints but durable enough to allow older sleepers to sit and stand up easily. The medium-soft feel of the mattress is plush and soft, but our testers warn that its average edge support could make sitting in the bed and standing more challenging for anyone with mobility issues. How we test mattresses

Our Reviews Team has dedicated more than 1,000 hours to researching the mattress industry, consulting at least 10 health care professionals, and testing roughly 40 brands and 130 unique mattress models for quality and comfort. We’ve also interviewed 16 older adults who recently purchased a mattress and surveyed more than 3,200 recent mattress customers to understand their experiences shopping for a new bed.

Each mattress undergoes a rigorous 36-page testing procedure to score its different characteristics, including motion transfer, cooling, support, edge support, bounce, and firmness.

When it comes to the Titan Plus Luxe, we evaluated how this bed fared for higher-weight sleepers. To see if this mattress really works well for higher-weight sleepers, we looked closely at its firmness, support, pressure relief, and firmness scores, as higher-weight sleepers typically need a firmer, more supportive bed to keep their hips in line with their shoulders and promote healthy spinal alignment.

Bottom line

Our testers found that the Titan Plus Luxe mattress provides a balance of support and comfort to keep sleepers elevated at night, while still relieving pressure around sensitive areas, like the hips, shoulders, and lower back. Plus, the Titan Plus Luxe scored highly on our cooling, motion transfer, pressure relief, and support tests, so the majority of sleepers, along with couples, should be able to rest soundly throughout the night. While some lighter-weight and higher-weight sleepers might have trouble with side-sleeping or stomach-sleeping on this bed, this mattress provides versatility across body types and sleeping positions.

Frequently asked questions

We think the Titan Plus Luxe is a good mattress option for higher-weight sleepers in all sleep positions, with the exception of stomach sleepers. The mattresses earned high scores on cooling, motion transfer, pressure relief, and support, but ultimately, it comes down to personal preferences. This mattress provides versatility, so we think it’s also a good option for couples who have different body types.

The Titan Plus Luxe is a strong choice for average- and higher-weight side sleepers, as the mattress provides enough contouring and pressure relief, especially around the hip and shoulder areas. Lighter-weight side sleepers might find the Titan Plus Luxe too firm to relieve this pressure. We recommend that these sleepers check out our roundup of the best mattresses for side sleepers.

The Titan Plus Luxe is not a flippable mattress, so only one side of this bed is intended for sleep. We recommend checking out the Plank Firm if you want a flippable bed option from Brooklyn Bedding.
