Leesa Mattress Review 2024
Sleep is a key pillar of overall health. Quality sleep helps strengthen cognition and the ability to think clearly and pay attention. Choosing a good mattress with a surface that supports you through the night is crucial to your well-being. Otherwise, you may experience pain and joint discomfort, never becoming comfortable enough to fully relax into a deep, restorative night’s rest. To ensure you choose your mattress with all of the information you need, we evaluate brands to help you narrow down your choices. In this Leesa mattress review, we’ll explain all of the factors we learned in our testing to help you decide if Leesa is right for you.
“Consistently sleeping in a position that supports spinal alignment can contribute to better posture during waking hours,” said chiropractic physician Steve Smiley, DC, of Smiley Family Chiropractic in Indianapolis. “Good posture can reduce the risk of musculoskeletal problems and enhance your overall appearance and self-confidence.”
Leesa is known for being an eco-friendly brand with a social conscience, using organic and recycled materials in their mattresses designed for maximum comfort and pressure relief. Leesa has 12 models available, and our Reviews Team thoroughly tested three. Below are the results of our comprehensive mattress testing.

Who should use a Leesa Mattress?
Based on our research and testing, we found that Leesa mattresses may be the most beneficial for side sleepers or anyone with certain medical conditions like joint pain or arthritis because of the medium firmness support that provides pressure relief.
Here are some other considerations to make when choosing the Leesa mattress.
Sleep position
Because most Leesa mattresses offer medium firmness, they’re not ideal for stomach sleepers as they do allow some “give” that could lead to back pain in primary stomach sleepers.
However, medium firmness is ideal for people who sleep on their sides, because it allows the shoulders and hips to sink slightly into the softness but still provides support to maintain alignment, which will help prevent joint or back pain.
Medium-firmness mattresses are also ideal for people who tend to switch positions a lot while sleeping because the mattress allows enough softness to move without sinking in too far to the mattress. Additionally, the memory foam may also help with motion isolation, allowing a partner to keep sleeping undisturbed while their partner moves.
Firmness preference
The firmness of the mattresses supports certain types of sleepers and is also a personal preference. If you simply prefer a medium-firm mattress with memory foam, the Leesa mattresses are ideal.
Temperature preference
Some people are hot sleepers while others may notice temperature changes based on conditions. For instance, anyone going through menopause or with certain medical conditions may appreciate mattresses with cooling technology like the Leesa.
Body type
Higher-weight individuals will want to check their body weight against the specific Leesa mattress guidelines. For instance, the highest-weight capacity the Leesa Hybrid can accommodate is up to 350 pounds per individual.
Leesa mattress return and warranty policies
All Leesa mattresses come with a 100-night trial period on your first purchase. That means the first time you purchase a Leesa mattress, you can use the 100-night trial, but the next time you purchase a Leesa mattress, the 100-night trial period will not apply. (The company uses your household or shipping/billing address for verification.)
Leesa requires first time mattress buyers try the mattress for at least 30 nights before returning because the mattress typically needs to be “broken in.” After the 30 nights, if you still don’t like the mattress, you can return it. The eligibility requirements to return a Leesa mattress are:
- It has to be clean
- It has to be undamaged
- It has to be unripped
- All zippers must be intact
- The foam must not be ripped or punctured
- The cover fabric must be intact
To return you mattress, you will need to call the company to start the process. If the mattress has decompressed and isn’t able to fit back in the box, Leesa will arrange to have it picked up instead. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, you’ll also need to pay a $100 mattress return fee even within the free trial.
You can also return your Leesa mattress for free, but be aware that after you exchange the mattress, the new mattress will no longer be eligible for a return or exchange.
Bottom line
When selecting a mattress, test out the experience in person whenever possible. Take your time simulating the way you sleep, and consider motion transfer and edge support along with your favorite sleep position. Consider your body type or whether you have any pain, and look for a mattress that naturally aligns your spine. “Sleep deprivation can intensify pain while pain can also interfere with sleep, leading to a cycle of sleep deprivation and increased pain,” said Chester Wu, MD, double board certified in psychiatry and sleep medicine.
Overall, all three Leesa mattress models we tested our Leesa mattress review had good motion isolation and scored high on comfort, pressure relief, and support. They also can accommodate most sleep styles. Keep in mind that the Leesa Original is all memory foam, making it softer and more cradling than the other two hybrid models.
Frequently asked questions
There’s no definitive answer as to how long any mattress should last. An average mattress may last a decade, so it’s recommended to replace it roughly every 10 years [3] Johns Hopkins Medicine. Choosing The Right Mattress: Making a Smart Investment. . Leesa offers a 10-year warranty for all their mattresses.
Every Leesa model is different. Research shows that a medium-firm mattress is recommended for back pain, depending on your weight and body type [4] Radwan A, et al. Effect of Different Mattress Designs on Promoting Sleep Quality, Pain Reduction, and Spinal Alignment in Adults With or Without Back Pain; Systematic Review of Controlled Trials. Sleep Health . If possible, we advise testing out a mattress in person to see if you experience twinges of pain or discomfort before making your choice. Consider one of Leesa’s hybrid models, such as the Legend Hybrid, which has an extra support layer made of springs and foam.
Leesa is an eco-conscious brand that manufactures mattresses from organic and recycled materials like poly foam and springs. Their products come with free delivery in a box.
Leesa is more affordable than Tempur-Pedic. It’s also GREENGUARD Gold certified for low VOCs. Tempur-Pedic is known for retaining heat in its synthetic foams and for having off-gassing issues, while Leesa offers hybrid options with coils and aerated foam layers for better cooling and airflow.
