Our expert take on Helix Dusk Luxe mattress

The Helix Dusk Luxe mattress is meant to feel luxurious. The hybrid mattress has three foam layers designed to relieve pressure and give you lower back support. The zoned low back support helps keep your spine properly aligned in a neutral position while you sleep. The layer of up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils helps keep your hips from sinking as well as support the mattress’s cooling properties. The brand promises a comfortable feel, almost like you’re being cradled by your mattress.

Our Reviews Team agreed. “Very plush quilted top” is one of the first things our testers noticed. But the plush softness doesn’t take away from the firmness and support of the mattress. We gave the mattress a firmness rating of seven out of 10, which is slightly firmer than the medium firmness advertised by Helix. Our Team thinks the mattress is ideal for average-weight back sleepers, side sleepers, stomach sleepers, and combination sleepers. Higher-weight sleepers will also feel comfortable on this mattress. The coils combined with cradled contouring are what helps prevent sinkage, which is important for higher-weight sleepers.

The cooling properties and responsive bounce of the mattress also caught our attention. It’s easier to move and change positions on a mattress that has some give to it. We gave high marks of 4.5 out of five in both of these categories.

Eco-conscious sleepers will like that the mattresses are Greenguard Gold Certified, and the foams are CertiPUR-US certified. That means Helix mattresses don’t contain ozone depleters, mercury, lead, heavy metals, or PBDE flame retardants.

The mattress did miss the mark in a couple of areas, though. Sleepers who like the sturdiness of solid edge support may want to look at other options; we only scored a 3.5 out of five in this category. Our testers gave motion transfer a three out of five, which means you may feel your partner tossing and turning. Plus, this mattress is not the ideal option for lighter-weight side sleepers since it is too firm, especially on the hip and shoulder areas.

Your Helix Dusk Luxe mattress is delivered in a box. It takes 30–45 minutes to expand to its full size. Helix offers several white-glove delivery options not included in the Helix Dusk cost. Based on your needs, the company goes beyond just delivering your new mattress—they can also set up your new mattress and remove your old bed.

“Because there is such great bounce, the springs ripple, but the plush top helps absorb the shock.”

Bottom line

Though it’s a bit more expensive than some of its competitors, the Helix Dusk Luxe brings a lot to the table. It supports all types of average-weight sleepers, and even offers a firm yet cushioned feel to support higher-weight sleepers and keep them comfortable. This mattress also has cooling technology integrated for hot sleepers and uses eco-friendly materials.
